About Nedley & Bohn

Nedley and Bohn is a law partnership practicing primarily family law, juvenile law, criminal law, and trusts and estates.  Our lawyers each have twenty years of experience, and are well respected within the legal community.

Carolyn Nedley graduated from the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law in 1988, where she was on the dean’s list and graduated in the top 20% of her class.  She was technical editor on the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly, one of the four law journals published by the law school.  Her undergraduate degree was from Boston University where she was also on the dean’s list.  She has served on numerous committees in both family and juvenile courts, and appeared as an expert on both the Phil Donohue Show and KSJO’s public interest talk show regarding domestic violence issues.

Charles Bohn graduated from Santa Clara University Law School cum laude (top 15 % of his class) in 1989.  He won the prestigious American Jurisprudence award in the areas of community property, business organizations, constitutional law, and secured transactions.  He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University where he was selected by the faculty as San Jose State’s 1985 Student of the Year.  He currently teaches two classes each semester in the areas of business and constitutional law.  Prior to attending law school, he owned Backstage Music Store in Santa Clara, and frequently performs locally as a musician.

After law school, the attorneys met while working briefly for a large firm with primarily corporate clients.  Both found that their hearts were really in helping individuals with legal problems rather than representing big business.  They individually went into private practice where they handled hundreds of family law cases, both large and small.  Both attorneys have extensive experience handling cases with divorce or dissolution of marriage, domestic violence, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support (alimony), division of community property, property valuation, business valuation, investment property, 401K’s and pension funds.  They have also practiced criminal law, juvenile law, and bankruptcy law.

Under a contract with the county of Santa Clara, for the last ten years Carolyn Nedley represented juvenile delinquents on probation as the juvenile review attorney.  She worked in juvenile drug treatment court, juvenile mental health court, and juvenile domestic violence court, and handled hundreds of deferred entry of judgment (DEJ) cases.

Charles Bohn’s recent experience includes serving as appointed counsel in contempt cases where one parent has not been paying child support.  He defended individuals against cases brought by the Department of Child Support Services, and has special expertise in child support matters.

Carolyn Nedley and Charles Bohn married and have now formed a law partnership.
